General information VRO day insurance

KNMV instructors make every effort to prevent falls and the damage that can accompany them. Should this nevertheless happen, good insurance is nice. Therefore, check the policy terms of your own insurance policy to find out if your insurance will provide adequate coverage during Continuing Driving Education (VRO) in such a case. It may be wise to purchase VRO day insurance.

Are you insured with KNMV Insurance?

If you have WA and Fully Casco coverage on your motorcycle with KNMV insurance, then you are already fully covered with your motorcycle for any damages that may occur while taking a continued driving course with the KNMV.

Are you insured elsewhere?

Participants in a KNMV advanced riding course have the option of taking out VRO day insurance. This insurance is offered for the following reasons:

  • To avoid discussion with the motorcycle insurance company about coverage during a KNMV continuing driving course (on an enclosed area).
  • To include the possibility of WA or WA limited casco insured motorcycles during the course additional Full Casco insurance.
  • To maintain no-claim discount from your own hull insurance.

Validity of VRO day insurance

This insurance is only valid on the course day itself and coverage starts after the start of the course and ends at the (interim) termination of the course. This means that the motorcycle is insured only during the training and not during the outward or return journey! The engine must not be older than 10 years (year of construction). The maximum list value of the insured motorcycle is EUR 35,000.00. Is your motorcycle worth more or is it older than 10 years? Then, unfortunately, it is not eligible for the VRO day insurance.

Insured object

VRO day insurance covers what is known as hull damage. This means that only damage to your own motorcycle and any permanently mounted accessories are insured.

Note: Damage to helmet and/or clothing is not co-insured. Medical expenses and any personal injury damages are also not eligible for reimbursement.

Repatriation

Under the VRO day insurance, taking the motorcycle to the dealer is also covered. This means that if the motorcycle is no longer safe to ride, you can call on an emergency service. The course leader will assist you with this and will also handle some formalities with you.

Consequences of damage

If you unexpectedly sustain a damage during a KNMV day course, we are there for you. We will then help you resolve the damage and will have the damage repaired by mutual agreement. The reported damage does not affect your own current motorcycle insurance. However, claims are recorded in the claims information system, RoyData. As a result, the claim is transparent to insurers at the time you take out new insurance. Should a problem arise in practice with regard to transferring your insurance, please contact us.

Premium

The premium for the VRO day insurance is EUR 96.80 including insurance tax per day or half day.

Own risk

The deductible for daily insurance is €450.00 per claim. This means that the damage will be paid out minus the deductible.
